The thermostat setting that saves the most
Every degree you raise it in summer saves about 3% on cooling. Here's where to set it.

Set it to 78° when you’re home and higher when you’re out. Every degree warmer saves about 3% on cooling.
Don’t drop it to 60
The AC cools at the same speed whatever you set. Setting it low doesn’t cool the house faster; it just runs longer.
Use a schedule
A smart or programmable thermostat can start cooling an hour before you get home, so you never come back to a hot house.
